• Warns the scanner that the item has been reported lost or stolen.
• Alerts you and our admin team with the time, location, and IP address of the scan.
• Logs all available information (including the scanner’s username, device, and any event details they provide) so we can help track it down.

The scanner is given a clear safety‑first message: do not confront anyone, but if it’s safe, retain the card and notify event organisers. They can then submit a detailed report that helps us – and you – locate the slab.
